It All Started In That Damn Forest

”But before you leave, don forget…, ” as the teacher was trying to get the attention of the students, everybody was already busy pouring out of the classroom. Among said students was Nathan. At that moment he was talking with two people.

”Man, are you sure you don wanna come with us? Itll be fun! ” the boy with a buzz cut shouted unnecessarily loudly so everybody heard him.

”Nah, Im really not feeling it today, ” Nathan replied with a tired voice. He had been tired the entire day with no plausible explanation.

Then the mountain like… man spoke with a soft voice not befitting of his large figure, ”Jacksons right, you should come since weve got some of the seniors showing up too. Im sure theyd wanna meet you. ”

Nathan could only sigh at what Penny said. They had recently begun hanging out with some seniors from our school, but he didn really like those guys because none of them were good people. So he avoided going out with them whenever these so-called friends showed up. However, today he was genuinely tired and wanted to go home.

The trio quietly walked through the dimly lit hallways. The rest of the class had already left the halls, so the only thing to be heard was their footsteps. They walked down the stairs, and then they all went to their individual lockers to get dressed. It was winter after all, so they couldn waltz around without their jackets on unless they wanted to end up sick.

Jackson and Penny had already finished getting dressed so they went up to Nathan, ”Alright see ya on Monday. Lets hang out then if you
e feeling better. ” Jackson added, ” If you flake on us again Ill beat the s*** out of you. You haven hung out with us the entire week. ”

Nathan had avoided them the entire week so obviously they weren too happy about that. But those friends of theirs had been with them the entire week, so he felt he had no other choice. He considered Penny and Jackson to be his best friends, but he really couldn bother dealing with those idiots they called friends.

”Yeah, yeah Mr I needed my ass saved from getting beaten up constantly. ”

”Screw you! ” the pitiful, nearly bald kid screeched.

After bickering for a few more minutes, they all went their separate ways. Nathan didn know that he wouldn be seeing his friends again anytime soon.

Nathan was walking through the streets, and enjoying the snowfall. It was dark out, but the snow made things much more visible. Everything was covered in white. No tree, car, house, or inch of ground was spared. The roads had turned an ugly shade of grey from all the cars driving on it constantly. Nathan usually would frown at the sight since it was very unpleasant to the eye, but today he was too tired to care.

As Nathan was dazed and lost in his own thoughts, he nearly hadn realized that he had made it home. His house was small in size but had two stories to make up for it. He had lived here his entire life so he considered it quite precious to himself. He went into his house and settled his clothes onto the clothing rack.

He peered into the living room.

As he did he heard, ”Hey, Nate. How was school? ”

It was his Mom,
