When Yin Yiliu calmed down after Jin Yang’s belly rubbing, Zhao Sihui was still gagging while holding onto a tree trunk.
Even after gargling with the water from the bottle handed to her by her brother, it still took her a long while before she was able to straighten her body, but her face was looking pale.

They looked back in the direction of the giant tree, where peace and tranquility had been restored, with bright red buds dotted among the leaves.
It was as if that frightening chase that had just ended was nothing but a dream.

They knew that it would be wishful thinking for the people in City M to escape.

The attack range of the giant tree was too wide.
There was absolutely no chance for ordinary vehicles to be able to withstand the blows of those thick stamens.
Once the windows were broken, the people in the car would be sucked to death.

They looked in disdain at the SUV that was covered with red slime, not wanting to approach it at all.
The roof was dented, and the hood was damaged as a result of the hard whipping from the tree, exposing the engine and wires inside.

They could still use the car after washing it, but at the moment, the car was like a giant cake covered with jam, which quickly attracted giant flies with sensitive senses of smell buzzing around it.

They could see that the mosquitoes were firmly stuck on the red liquid after landing on it, unable to escape no matter how hard they fluttered their wings.

Yin Yiliu was disgusted by the scene, and then she heard Jin Yang, who was above her head, say with a slight hint of disgust in his voice, “Ditch the car.
Let’s travel on foot.”

They had now passed through City M and were approaching the suburbs on the outskirts of City W.
They only had to walk through this city to get to their final destination: the City Z base.

Fortunately, Yin Yiliu had two spaces, so they could store all of the larger items.
Holding her in the fast, stable, and fully automatic wheelchair, Jin Yang didn’t have to walk at all.
The Zhao siblings, on the other hand, had to suffer quite a bit.

As for the black pup, it was supposed to run with the car anyway.

Jin Yang dug out the map from his backpack.
He roughly identified the direction, and among the densely packed lines on the map, he drew out a few routes that would allow them to quickly cross the city.
No one knew what the situation was like in City W, or if they would encounter yet another weird mutated animal or plant.

Just like that, a group of people and a black wolf entered the city.

After leaving City M, they weren’t sure if it was merely their imagination, or because the giant tree that swallowed other life forms was nearby, but they obviously felt that the growth of the plants outside the city was much slower than that of City M.
Although the trees on both sides of the road were thick and tall as well, it wasn’t to the point of completely burying the buildings.

The suburbs had lush greenery and sparse buildings that were all bungalows at first glance.
The entire place appeared to be deserted.
Judging by the rampantly growing mutated crops in the large fields, it might have been a farming village before the apocalypse.

Zhao Qiyang was feeling hungry at the moment.
He walked to the edge of the field to take a look.
The corn cobs in the field looked heavy, growing outwards and hanging by the roadside.

He measured it with his hands.
Goodness, it was longer than his forearm.

After making sure there was no one around, he rubbed his hands, plucked several corn cobs, and stuffed them in his arms.
When his arms were full, he turned around and met the gaze of the rabbit on the ground, who was raising her little head to stare at him.

Yin Yiliu had jumped down from Jin Yang’s lap at some point.
The two adults were surveying the route over there when she noticed the teen Zhao Qiyang sneaking into the field and plucking other peoples’ corns at amazing speed.

Zhao Qiyang was a little embarrassed at being noticed, but after thinking that these crops probably had no owner anymore after the apocalypse, he regained his confidence and said, “Stay quiet.
I’ll cook the corn for you later…”

Before he could finish his sentence, he saw the corn cobs disappear before his eyes and lost his voice.

Yin Yiliu shook her ears innocently, jumped away from him, and stored the other crops from other fields in her space.

When Jin Yang waved at her, she wiggled her little butt and threw herself into Big Golden Thigh’s arms.

The sky was already getting dark at the time.
The remaining rays of the setting sun exhausted its last strength to break through the evening mist and ignite an orange fire in the air.
The setting sun felt so close it was as if it could burn them in the next second.

From their observations for the past few days, once the orange clouds rose, it meant that night was about to fall.

Hence, Jin Yang decided that they would spend the night in a nearby farmhouse.
It wasn’t like they didn’t have tents, but sleeping in a readily available house would save them a lot of trouble.

The few of them walked into the village.
The bungalows here were empty with their doors wide open.
Clearly, the owners had already run away for quite some time.

They could already smell a foul stench from one of the houses from a distance.
Zhao Sihui wrinkled her nose and covered it with her hand, while Yin Yiliu buried her head in Jin Yang’s clothes, relying on his pleasant scent to combat the stench.

Then, they saw a few strong-looking chickens running out of the wide-open courtyard.
They looked like the domesticated roosters from before the apocalypse.

Zhao Qiyang’s eyes lit up as he drooled at the sight of the chickens.
The black pup behind him had the same look as him, salivating as it stared at the chickens.

Although Zhao Qiyang never lacked food, water, or even meat products along the way, the vacuum-packaged ones couldn’t possibly compare to the taste of freshly roasted meat.

“Sis, Bro Jin, wait! Let me catch one to add to our dinner tonight!”

The teenager jumped into the chicken pile and grabbed the fattest and biggest rooster at the front.

Unexpectedly, although the chickens had not become aggressive, they were much faster than before.
The leading rooster was ferocious.
It pecked at the back of Zhao Qiyang’s hand with its sharp beak.
He jolted from the pain and ran around the yard while covering the back of his hand.

The black pup was a little speechless at the sight.
With a low growl from its throat, it was about to pounce on the chicken to help Zhao Qiyang when it noticed a white dumpling jumping quickly from Jin Yang’s arms.

She landed on the rooster’s neck just in time to slash its throat with her sharp claws.
Several drops of blood splashed on her white fur.

Yin Yiliu frowned at her filthy body and jumped off the mutated rooster that was slowly falling down.
However, as her hind feet touched the ground, she felt the soles of her feet touch something soft, and a foul stench came to her.

As soon as she lowered her head, she saw her paws sinking into a pile of chicken dung.
She almost fainted from disgust.
