I quickly closed the door and faced her. ”You kissed, ” she kept wiggling her eyebrows. ”Yes, no.. Not on the lips anyway, ” I sighed.

”Where then? ” Dani narrowed her eyes at me. ”Neck, ” I thought out loud. ”Face, all over, ” I said with a smile thinking of him. I sighed, ”I guess I blew it with him, ” I thought out loud.

Dani wiggled her glasses with her nose. ”I have seen the two of you together just now, ” said Dani like I was talking rubbish.

”He confuses me, ” I admitted. ”To be honest, ” I started to say and sighed, ”I do not know what it is that he wants from me, and he keeps on asking questions I do not have an answer to, ” I gulped.

”Questions like…. ” said Danni, pushing for more information. I took my phone out and handed it to her. Maybe that would enlighten her. She scrolled through the phone, her brows knitted together in concentration.

”Oh, ” mouthed Dani when she was through. I let my head back against the wall and closed my eyes. ”It is bad, isn it? ” I squeaked.

”It is something alright, but it is not bad at all, ” said Dani from under her glasses. ”I mean, the man just admitted that last night meant something to him, and was upset by the thought you didn ….. ” murmured Dani.

What was she saying? That he liked me?

”He did not say that, ” I argued. Dani rolled her eyes at me. ”Lets get out of here, well talk on our way to the store, ” said Dani when she opened my bedroom door.

I hugged my children and nodded to Mason. He wanted to approach me, but I quickly went outside and walked to Danis car.

Dani turned on some music and we drove off in her Mini Cooper. ”Which store did you have in mind? ” I asked. ”The one in Seventh Street, ” offered Dani. Yikes, that was going to cost me. ”What exactly happened last night? ” questioned Dani.

I sighed. ”We talked all evening and danced… ” I trailed off. ”That part I know, I was there remember… Christal looked really upset by this new plot twist though, ” announced Dani.

Christal never hid the fact that she was into Dean. Unlike me, she was tall, blue eyes, blond hair. She would be exactly Masons type. I cringed inwardly. I blew out a heavy breath.

”I forgot about her, ” I mouthed, slapping myself on the forehead. ”This is a lost cause, ” I muttered. How could I ever compete with a beaty like that. I had no curves, and she was full of lush. I think the choice would easily be made.

”Does this mean that Dean was right, and you are now admitting something did happen between you two, ” dared Dani.

I rolled my eyes at her.

”It was… ” I sighed. ”It was.. ” Pressed Dani. ”He held me in his arms… caressing me and kissing me, ” I said feeling warm inside. ”But there was no sex… not even a little… because he did not kiss you on the lips… ” Dani eyed me. I shook my head

”W.O.W. ” mouthed Dani making the word into three different syllables. ”That sounds intense, ” she added. ”And this morning? ” questioned Dani. ”Because you were alone when Maci and I walked in… ” said Dani, focusing on the road.

”He offered to get breakfast together, but I told him that I had to go. ”

”No you didn … And then you went on saying nothing happened. ” Dani gazed at me, horror struck.

”Then what in the world was I supposed to say? That I loved being with him last night? that I feel the urge to do it again? That I feel drawn to him? ”I said the words like they were poison. ”Come on Dani… it was one night… ”

Dani parked the car in front of the store. It looked fancy and very expensive. ”What is it that you want from him? ” asked Dani. I groaned. ”Ugh… you sound just like him, ” I snapped.

We went into the store in silence. Dani picked out a few dresses she wanted me to try on. In the end, I bought a dark-blue deep cut dress, that reached the floor.

The both of us got our hair done at a saloon. My hair was half pinned up, and the other half was made into long curls that reached my hips.

The gala was held at an estate. The fraternitiys new home base. We got out of the car. ”Dani, ” I frowned thinking of something. ”Are we even on a list? ” I questioned. ”Who do you think I am, ” retorded Dani in a sassy way, while we walked up the front stairs of the largest mansion of the estate. I laughed at that. ”Fair enough, ” I said sheepishly.

”Wait, ” I said nervously. Dani looked at me from under her glasses, like I was a child she needed to have much patience for. ”Who is our date? ” I gulped. ”You are mine, ” said Dani as she took my hand and dragged me forward.

I stopped her again. ”Who is Deans date? ” I whispered. She was towns gossip, there wasn a thing she would ever miss. Dani purged her lips. I already knew the answer.

”Oh no, Dani… ” I whined. ”Why did you take me here? ” I shrugged. ”Don be a baby like that, ” lectured Dani. ”You know that events like these are arranged beforehand, ” she argued.

”Keep your head up and your titties forward, ” she said and set an example. I snickered at that. It was not like I had much titties to put foreward.

The entrance was grand, our luggage was being taken up to our rooms by piccolos dressed like pinguins. We went up to change our outfits. The room was luxurious, with great chandeliers and canopy beds. It was beautiful

”Dani? ” I shrieked. Dani pressed her lips together, trying not to laugh. ”How should I behave around him? ” I questioned.

She did not answer that. ”Lets get some alcohol in you, ” suggested Dani. Alcohol always seemed to be her solution. She had much to learn yet.

We went down stairs, it was crowded with fellow students. The floor was draped with a red carpet, the walls were decorated with gold and large paintings.

We went into the grand lounge, people were chatting in small groups. I was scanning the room and I quickly found what I was searching for. My heart sank.

Christal had tugged her arm beneath his, while they were animatedly talking to the group they were standing with. Dani bumped my shoulder to get my attention.

”Go say hi to him, ” she advised me.

Oh hell no. ”It seems he is enjoying his company, so why would I be doing that? ” I frowned. ”Scaredy cat, ” she smiled. Dani took my arm and dragged me across the grand hall.

”Hey! ” she cheered when we neared the group. Granted, they were all people we knew. I tried to be brave and greeted everybody. Even him. It was probably silly, but when I said hi to him, I purposely eyed the way Christal held him.

I saw him shift uncomfortably. Good for him, I thought. I took a glass of champagne and started sipping from it. I was normally not the quiet type… so I tried to be communicative.

”Were you at the last party yesterday? ”asked Lauren. She had dark-brown hair, glasses and pretty green eyes. She was there with her boyfriend, who also studied in the same year as we did.

”Yeah, I was… ” I kindly smiled. From the corner of my eyes I saw that Dean was looking at me. ”I thought Id seen you, but you were gone all of a sudden, ” frowned Jake, Laurens boyfriend.

”That is because Dean and Melissa hit it off last night, I suppose, ” Dani casually threw the words on the table. I almost choked in my drink and coughed. All eyes were on us and I looked at Dean apologetically. I could not read his expression.

I could read Christals though, her eyes spat fire.

Rafael padded Deans back, ”Well done bro, it was about time you went after her, ” he commented. Dean shot me a quick look, he seemed caught and sheepishly smiled at me.

I bit my lip. What was that supposed to mean?! ”And he scored, ” Jason winked at me. ”I heard you walk out early this morning, ” said Jason with humor in his eyes. ”That means that you owe us one of your panties, to decorate one of the bathrooms, ” said Rafael. I felt my cheeks burn

”Thats enough boys, ” said Dean and gestured them to zip up. ”Nothing happened ”, retorted Dean, while holding my gaze.

I looked to the ground, his words stung more than I would ever admit.

The conversation continued, but I was no longer a part of it. I drank the rest of my drink in one go, and walked to the bar to get something stronger, when someone grabbed the microphone.

”Ladies and gentleman, before we go to the dining hall, I suggest you all find a partner to dance with, ” the man announced. He was wearing a golden glittery suit. It looked obnoxious.
