“Screech!”  

 

At a wide yet desolate wilderness, a number of ogre like demonic beasts were roaring out as they charged toward a caravan.  Those carriages were forcibly stopped and quickly surrounded.  

 

Balon sat on his own horse, and the sword on his waist was already drawn.  However, he did not personally join the battle.  Instead, he was constantly barking out orders to those around him.  

 

“The knights will take the vanguard position.  Make sure to block every single one of those ogres and do not allow them to break through the perimeter.  Adventurers will be doing hit and runs as well as finishing off any enemy.  Make sure you work together with the knights.  Mages are all to retreat t the back and ready yourselves to cast!”  

 

Balon was directing the people around him in handling the attacking ogres with a completely calm voice.  

 

Thanks to that, although the attack was very sudden, everyone was not taken by surprise due to prior warnings by those with the [Enemy Detection] skill.  Instead, they simply followed Balon’s orders, perfectly set up a defensive perimeter, and kept the carriages safely in the middle.  This way, they kept the carriages safe while dealing with the oncoming ogre horde.  

 

Naturally, Shien and company were also involved.  

 

“Melika, start readying your magic.”  

 

Vivian gave those directions as she held up her shield in front of everyone.  It could even be said that she was at the front of the entire transport group and was the first to meet the ogres’ attack.

Melika responded immediately.  While being protected by Vivian, Melika hurriedly raised her staff, closed her eyes, and begun chanting.  

 

As for Diere and Lumia, they had already charged out.  

 

“Hiya!”  

 

Lumia let out a cute shout, but her actual action wasn’t nearly so cute.  As she swung her tiny gauntlet fists and following the sounds of dull impacts, various ogres over level 30 were sent flying like so much trash.  They’d be first sent into the air before slamming onto the ground in a bloody heap.  

 

“You’re in the way!”  

 

Diere spoke coldly as her petite form blasted forward like a black gale.  The twin blades in her hand cut through the air in visible flashes.  The ogres charging in her direction weren’t even able to react before their bodies were touched by those flashes and were thus cut apart into countless pieces.  

 

The members of Vivian’s party charged forward just like that and gloriously completed their tasks.  

 

“Man, as I thought, I can’t compare to those girls.”  

 

Alrith watched all that from behind with a heavy battle ax in his hands.  He commented respectfully as he cut down a charging ogre.  

 

“S-so amazing…”  

 

Leon was also holding a sword, but he didn’t join the battle at all.  His expression was stiff as he watched Vivian and company accomplished their results.  His quiet voice was filled with admiration that no one else could detect.  

 

“It’s fine, Leon.”  Eudrice was holding an orb like magic item and comforted Leon, “I’ll protect Leon, so there’ no need for you to personally fight.”

“Thank you Eudrice.”  A shadow came over Leon’s face before quickly going away, and Leon once again showed Eudrice his handsome smile and spoke gently, “Of course I believe in you.  After all, you are my beloved.”  

 

“Leon~~~?”  Eudrice couldn’t hold back her joyous voice.  Her eyes flashed like there were hearts in them.  

 

“Only…”  Leon maintained his smile toward Eudrice, but his gaze had wandered over toward where Vivian’s group was.  He muttered meaningfully to himself, “Their actions really are just too amazing.  If I could make some kind of relationship happen with them, that would be the best for me…”  

 

Leon thus calculated in his mind.  

 

For Leon, who generally hoped to gain help from women, Vivian, Diere, Melika, and even Lumia were all top priority targets.  In the past, he had tried more than once to make contact with them, but it had failed due to lack of opportunities.  

 

After all, Leon would generally spend all his time every day on those women who are of aid to him.  The quests he accepted were also nearly all given by women who were trying to use it as a way to hand him money.  Given that, Leon rarely had the chance to leave Lamdrion.  Most of his quests were basically stuff he could finish in town after all.  It was unlike Vivian’s own party, who would take several days for each quest and leave the town every single time.  Thus, they have very little chances to meet up.  

 

“This here is a good opportunity.”  

 

Leon had decided.  He would take the opportunities during this particular quest pursue a closer relationship with the girls of Vivian’s party.  

 

“I’m a bit sorry for Markray, but it can’t be helped.  Plus, she doesn’t exactly like you either, young master.”  

 

Leon looked in Markray’s direction with a somewhat sympathetic gaze.  

 

In Leon’s party, Markay was the only one with real abilities capable of charging at the front.  

 

Thus, early when the fight started, Markray had charged out on his own.

“Die!  Die!  Die!”  

 

Markray violently and brutishly beheaded one ogre after another.  His body was already covered in blood, and his eyes and face showed an unbelievably dangerous expression.  

 

Obviously, that young master was using this chance to properly vent his frustrations.  

 

Markay also kept looking in a certain direction with a glare full of killing intent.  

 

There, Shien had also charged in at the very front.  

 

However, Shien didn’t fight against the ogres head on.  He didn’t even raise his weapon.  Instead, he just looked at the ogre charging at him with a smile with a tattered piece of parchment in his hands.  

 

Right after, Shien’s lips moved, and an amazing amount of magic power burst out like an erupting volcano.  It transformed into waves of blistering flames and blew away a huge group of ogres.  

 

That explosion was terrifying in both appearances and effect.  It didn’t even loose to a high class spell from a high leveled mage’s full efforts.  Not only did it blow away countless ogres, it also blew away a huge patch of the ground in the area, reducing the earth there to a blackened scorch mark.  

 

Markay both admired and hated that terrifying scene.  

 

If not for that magic item’s existence as a means of self defense, Markray would have long since came at Shien to pick a fight with him.  

 

Although he technically also had such a magic item, he was different from Shien who could activate it at will.  With Balon included, most people still had no way to completely master the use of those magic items.  Only when Shien was also around to help did they have a few chances at succeeding.  Whenever Shien wasn’t around, they couldn’t activate it no matter what.

Truth be told, not even Balon had really imagined that things would turn out this way.  

 

At present, Balon was already worrying about what to do if everyone was still unable to use those magic items at will by the time the Old Demon Faction attacks.

It had been ten whole days since they set out from Lamdrion.  In that time, the many battles as well as the magic training he did previously had finally crystallized into actual progress, thus raising Shien’s level.  

 

“Just when are those Old Demon Faction guys going to finally show up?”
