“Well, this is over.”

Jinhyuk stared blankly as the game's end credits scrolled up.
It was a game he bought two days ago because people recommended it to be difficult.

But it was easy.

“They said it was hard? That even Seong Jinhyuk wouldn't be able to beat it? They’ve got to be fucking with me.”

Jinhyuk wasn't a pro gamer.
He’s called the world's greatest hunter, but he didn't have any game-related abilities either.

But that didn’t stop him from being good.
It’s only natural.
His genius brain with the ability to quickly learn anything made even games a breeze.

 “Bullshit.”

He sighed and leaned against the back of his chair.
It’s already been a month since he killed the King of Gates.
It’s been peaceful for a month since then enough to try a game out, but even this eventually got boring.

There is nothing interesting in the world, and to be at the peak is boring.

“How did this happen?”

There was a time he wanted to be at the top.
Okay, it didn’t have to be the top, just anywhere enough to live well.

For he has never seen his parents before, and was bullied for being an orphan.

Jinhyuk just wanted to live like a human being.

Then one day, he heard the voice of The System.
That there will be monsters invading this world soon, and that it will give those in unfortunate conditions a chance to survive.

‘The abilities were listed, and I was told to choose one of them.’

The ability Jinhyuk picked back then was high intelligence.
He didn’t know or care about what monsters were, but thought nothing would be impossible if you were smart.

And that was the correct choice.

The ability gifted him a brain that can easily memorize, understand, and absorb knowledge.
The kinds of martial arts you expect in a dojo, the sorceries you’d see in fictions became easy to learn as long as they existed.

So he did.
Jinhyuk visited numerous hunters who appeared in this world and learned their abilities by imitating them.
It was fun and enjoyable to learn each and every skill.

Until you reach a pinnacle too high for others to grasp.

“There’s a limit to how much I care about killing monsters, and being praised for it.”

Wealth and fame acquired in an instant.
But it felt like wearing a luxurious outfit that didn't fit.
You’re happy by the fact that it’s luxurious, but eventually the discomfort is all that you care about.

“In the end, it’s the same as before I became a Hunter and now.”

Jinhyuk was alone.
Despite becoming the strongest hunter, he had no friends.

In fact, he never had any friends in his life.
People always gave weird looks, only waiting for the chance to growl with him.
Why did they bother him so much, when he did nothing wrong?

And now that he’s the strongest, his phone rings? Those who despised you so much now ask if you’re up for lunch?

Who would want to be friends with such people? Maybe some, but not Jinhyuk.

“I want to try dating, but… they’d never love me for who I am.
It’d be because I’m the strongest hunter.”

No one really likes themselves.
And just as so, there is no part that Jinhyuk likes about this world.
To Jinhyuk, everything in this world was like hell.

Even though he could destroy it with a simple gesture.

“Maybe I shouldn’t have reached for the top? Or is there some curse on me that prevents me from living like a normal person?”

This life of constantly being in search of something interesting is exhausting.
With the way things are going, he fears that he may reach out to drugs for answers.
He didn’t want to go that far.

“But… Was that game a drug?”

A blue portal appeared in front of him.
It felt different from the dungeon gate.

‘If it’s a dungeon gate, you should be able to see through it.’

There was a dungeon in front of it.
He was confident of his sense as a hunter.
But the portal in front of him felt like nothing.

“Am I hallucinating from going crazy…”

Jinhyuk has never heard of a gate like this.
Has some new crisis occurred within a month? He binged on gaming, so he had no knowledge of the news outside.

He turned on his smartphone and searched online.

Unidentified portals, dungeon-invisible gates, etc.

No result.

“What is this?”

His heart began to pound at the mysterious thing.
However, he couldn't get his hopes high just yet and quickly made a post in the hunter community.

    ————-

Seong Jinhyuk: I'm Jinhyuk – can’t see the dungeon through a portal.
Is that even a thing?

More comments posted after but nothing useful was found.
In other words, no other hunters have seen such a portal or gate.

“This might be a great discovery!”

Jinhyuk’s heart couldn’t beat any faster.
How exciting is it to to face the unknown.
There is nothing more exciting than to find out.

“Should I touch it?”

In the middle of his question, a woman’s cry was heard through the portal.

Sob, sob…

Startled by the sound of crying, Jinhyuk stepped back.
Her voice suggested that a young girl.
It's strange enough that the dungeon is invisible, but to be able to hear a girl crying through the portal…

– It seems to be impossible.
I’m done for…

What does she mean? Unable to fight his curiosity, Jinhyuk stretched out his hand through the portal, feeling some kind of pull into it.

It’s definitely different from entering a dungeon.
The dizziness was so severe that he felt like he was going to lose my mind.

But the almighty Seong Jinhyuk could not let that happen.
After taking a calm, deep breath, he focused on keeping his sanity and continued forward leisurely.
