Gu Nian’s explanation of the script and the characters lasted over an hour.
By the time it was done, even she felt exhausted.

“… That more or less covered the script and the characters.
So, what do you think? Do you have any questions?” ask Gu Nian in a tone that was so gentle that not even her promisees [of a contract] had ever heard coming from her.
Then she proceeded to looking at her precious son with the most “affectionate” look that could only have come from a mother.

“Mmm.”

“Good, then.
Let me see.
Oh, is it really 8:30 already?” Gu Nian was a bit surprised when she looked at her watch.
She quickly gathered up everything on top of the round table.
“Your bedtime is 10 o’clock, right? I should head out then.
I’ll leave the script here for you.
Just text me if you have any questions.”

“……”

There was no response for a long while.

Feeling odd, Gu Nian stopped what she was doing and turned around.
She saw the man leaning in chair with the script in his hand and his sleeves half rolled up looking up at her with his brown eyes through his lens.

Gu.old mother.Nian was very concerned.
“What’s the matter?”

“Ms.
Gu knows that,” Luo Xiu adjusted his spectacles.
With the flash of a thin light, his look returned to its original tenderness.
“I always go to bed at 10 o’clock?”

“……” Gu Nian was speechless.

Arrggghhh.
She had let the fact of meeting up with her son got to her head.

In order to explain that, she’d have to reveal her identity as his fan.

But her precious son was such a tender and gentle soul, perhaps… just maybe… he wouldn’t mind to much… that he has a mom-fan?

That was what was going through Gu Nian’s mind when she organized her documents in her hands.
Standing up with her documents in her arms, she summoned up all of her courage and looked at her precious son with her eyes beaming.

“Truth is, I am your…”

But before she could say “fan”, she heard a series of urgent footsteps coming their way and a boy walked inside of the room with his head lowered and a bag in his hand.
“Brother Luo, how come your door’s ajar… Eh, this is?”

Gu Nian, who was interrupted, turned around feeling resigned.

She recognized the person who had just walked inside of the room – he was Luo Xiu’s little assistant.
Also an “online friend” of hers that she had been chatting with for the past two years.
She recognized him because he used a selfie as his profile picture online.

The other person obviously didn’t know her.
He looked at the room then at Luo Xiu.
Stunned, he asked, “Brother Luo, is this your girlfriend?…
Does Sister Anna know about this? She will kill me if I know and not tell her!”

Gu Nian’s smile froze on her face.

After she had made a mental note of the little assistant’s “outrageous accusation”, Gu Nian smiled and explained, “Hi, I am Gu Nian, one of the team members of Demons’ screenwriter team.
I am here to talk about the script with Luo Xiu and I left the door open intentionally in order to avoid any possible misunderstandings.”

As her “online friend” had no knowledge of her real name, Gu Nian felt very comfortable when she introduced herself.

“Oh, oh.
I see.
My mistake.
I apologize.
Hi, hi….” The little assistant rubbed the back of his head as he nodded at Gu Nian, felling slightly embarrassed.

Gu Nian nodded back at him.

“Brother Luo, this was mailed to you from the office.” As the little assistant talked, he had already walked over to them and ripped open the bag.

Gu Nian could see the bag clearly now.

It was an express delivery pouch.

Express delivery, pouch?

Gu Nian had a bad feeling all of a sudden.

Under her inkling, she watched as the little assistant pulled out a very, very familiar looking notebook with a soft, brown cover.

Gu Nian, “……”

Oh darn.

“Son-Raising Diary”, how did you get here? Mom missed you so much.
QwQ

The little assistant chuckled.
“This was mailed to the office by that loyal fan of yours for two years.
It looks like some sort of a notebook.”

Luo Xiu studied it for a couple of seconds before he took it from the assistant.

He didn’t open it up but just held it in his hand.
Turning over to face Gu Nian who had been ignored, he asked, “What were you saying? You are my what?”

“……”

Gu Nian’s tears filled up as she looked at the notebook.

Her precious son must think of a fan who’d mail him such a notebook as a creep.
Sniffle, sniffle, sniffle.

“Ms.
Gu?” Luo Xiu prompted her again.

Her eyes filled with tears, Gu Nian looked up at him.
“I am actually your…”
