Second Chance, I won’t waste it

Throne room inside the castle

In the past this room was full of life and beautiful decorations all around. But now everything changed, all of the painting, rugs and even walls were destroyed.

And even this state of things was pale in comparison to aura of death, that was spreading in every cranny of the room.

The center of this aura was throne itself, or rather person sitting on it. That person being a handsome male in his mid twenties, with long white hair and red gem in the middle of his forehead.

Looking at this person, you could see that he is deeply thinking about something. After some time, his lips moved and from inside of them rang out deep and sublime voice.

”Weird. ”

Afterwards another voice rang out, but this time it was female voice. Cold and devoted of any emotions ”Something wrong? ”

Without even looking at the person that spoke, man answered ”One of my minions died, and this itself wasn suprising. Thing that picked my interest was unusual breath of the living that came with it. ”

After man finished his sentence, there was no more replies and everything become quiet. Returning to its previous state.

1 hour later

(Finally!) I thought to myself after pain ended. Inspecting wounds on my chest, all signs of infection dissapeared.

(Seems like those race skills are more powerful that I originally anticipated.)

But all of this wasn important at the moment. I need to continue with the thing I wanted to do before, check shop.

”A long list without any op bloodlines or any other of that shit. There also really powerful things I want to get my hands on, I can say no. ” I said, grinning slightly.

Scrolling through the list, I saw a new window pop up in the right corner of my eye.

[Quest: Zombie Infection

Quest Description: After being hurt by a zombie your wounds become infected, making them hard to heal, and counsantly making you feel a lot of pain. You can gain resistance to this infection with specific steps and correct resources.

Quest Requires:

– Heal 4 Infected Wounds [0/4]

– Kill 30 Zombies [1/30]

– Collect 7 Zombie tooths [0/7]

– Collect 5 bottles of Zombie blood [0/5]

Reward:

– New Skill [Poison Resistance Lvl 1] ]

(I wonder how exactly those quests are created? Do I need to fulfil some specific requirements, or there something else involved?) thinking about all of this, more and more questions appeared in my mind.

”Enough thinking for now, I need to take care of my injuries. ” I started to dress my wounds with a bandage I bought from the shop.

Looking around for my blouse, I spotted it next to zombies corpse. I crouched down and picked it up, but seeing its state the only thing I could do with it was to throw it in the trash.

Next thing I did was searching for anything useful on zombies corpse. Finding nothing I decided to at least get one thing I could from him, his teeth. ”Looks like I will need to do this the old fashion way. ”

After knocking his teeth out, I got only one tooth acceptable by the quest. Turned out that condition of the teeth is very important, some of them are rotten and others doesn have enough poison in them.

(This quest will take some time, but its worth it in the end.) Finished with my business, I threw my punching bag on my shoulder. Bringing it to the cliffside I tossed it down, making it fall to the woods below.

In that moment, It hit me ”My first kill… This feeling… Its amazing. ”

If someone were to look at Alexander right now, they would be able to see inextinguishable flame burning deep in his eyes.

It took some time, but I recovered from this feeling. (What exactly was that? This…)

Suddenly I nearly fell, luckily I managed to support myself with my sword just in time.

”It seems like my body can endure anymore physical effort. Its time to go back. ” opening my system, I choosed the main world and everything turned black again.

When I opened my eyes the first thing I did was collapsing on the bed and falling asleep immediately afterwards.

Next morning in dining room

”Wheres Alexander? Did anyone seen him? ” asked Olivia seeing one chair empty.

”Yesterday after breakfast he gone to his room and never come out. ” said Mira.

”Amelia, can you go check on him? ”

”Why me? ” said Amelia with slightly unhappy expression.

Olivia responded in strict tone ”Yesterday, when Alexander heard about what happened to you, he got very worried and checked up on you right away. ”

Hearing this, Amelia become quiet and lowered her head ”Ok, I will check on him. ”

Getting up, Amelia began going upstairs, while still keeping her head down. Unbeknown to the others, she grew more and more nervous with each step she took. (Alexander, will you be happy to see me?)

*KNOCK*KNOCK*KNOCK*

”…. ” *KNOCK* ”….. ” *KNOCK* ”Ok, ok, Im awake. ” hearing all of this commotion I wake up. Seeing what time it was I had only one thing in mind (I must have been really exhausted.)

After stretching a little, I stood up still half asleep. While trying to think about something I heard the same sound that woke me up *KNOCK* (Looks like someone is impatient.)

Opening the door, I saw a person I least expected ”Hey, Amelia. ” and this time I was able to see her whole, not only her head.

Amelia is 174 cm tall, she has long brown hair and turquoise eyes. Her body is slender, with C-cup breasts, thin waist and nice round butt. She wears red crop top and black pleated skirt reaching little beyond middle of her thighs.

(Those clothes suits her well, but theres one thing that doesn match this pleasant view. Her facial expression, still as cold as ever.)

Staring at her face, I saw different emotions going through her eyes. Indifference, curiosity, shock and worry?

Following her line of sight, I look down and immediately understood why thoes emotions arised in the first place.

Right in the middle of my chest was bandage with dried blood on it.

And then it hit me, literally hit me. Amelia pushed me into my room and started doing circles around me, looking for any other injury. At this point in time all of the previous frost on her face melted, leaving only concern.

Finding nothing else she sighed in relief and said in commanding tone ”Alexander, what happened? How did you get hurt? Tell me. ” but realizing how she was behaving, she blushed and froze in place.

Waveing in front of her face, I said ”Amelia, are you okay? ”

Regaining her composure, Amelia tried to put on her act again. ”Mom asked me to check up on you and now my job is done. Bye. ”

After saying her goodbyes, Amelia turned around and wanted to leave.

(Not this time.) I hugged her from behind to prevent her from leaving. ”Amelia, I know thats only an act with whole indifferent behavior. Can you tell me why? ”
