d finally sat his little butt on what seemed to be a cloud, which appeared out of nowhere in this endless darkness, and continued drawing circles in front of him, while trying to keep his whimpering as silent as possible.

Mo Helian really felt like a horrible person now, as if he bullied a little child to tears, but he didn say anything harsh though, right?

Nevertheless, he couldn stand the sight of the child crying silently, putting his arms around his legs and trying so hard to fold into himself, just so he could avoid drawing attention towards him.

Mo Helian was speechless for a while. He has never been in a situation like this, so it was hard for him to think of a solution.

”Hey, little guy…why is that contract so important? ”

Drawing the childs attention to something else was the only thing he could think of at the moment. And seems like he succeeded to distract him.

The boy sniffed a bit, then slowly turned towards him, talking in a small voice, barely audible, ”I am about to disappear too but…Im a little baby. I just want to live! ”

This time, his words were sincere. His whole being seemed to be drowned in sadness and despair, almost as if he had already accepted his fate, but the child was still reluctant to give up on his last hope, which happened to be Mo Helian himself.

This pitiful look of the boy and the burning gaze he directed at him, as if he was his salvation, put some pressure on Mo Helian, who finally couldn help but ask, ”So, what happens if I sign the contract? ”

Hearing this, the little boys eyes sparkled immediately, he couldn resist smiling.

That look really made Mo Helian feel so uncomfortable. People usually looked at him with fear in their eyes.

”The contract binds us, so I can use both our spiritual energies to send us to a different place, a much better one. I will find a suitable body for your soul and…and since the contact binds us, I cannot harm you. Because if you die, I die too, so…so I will really try my best to help you- ”

”Thats enough. ”

Being interrupted by Mo Helian made the boy think that he refused his offer a second time, so the little thing was on the verge of tears, again. This made Mo Helian have a real headache this time.

Before the little boy could drown in despair, he urged, ”Tell me about the benefits I get from the contract and what the price is. ”

After hesitating for a moment, the boy decided to tell the truth and started to explain, ”I can help you learn many new skills and abilities and…and I can protect you! Also, I don need anything in return. I just want to go to that place. Actually…I need a little bit of your energy…No, I need a lot, since my energy alone isn enough. But I promise Ill give it back to you later! And Ill help you become very very strong! ”

The child looked so satisfied with himself, Mo Helian couldn resist a chuckle, which made the little thing so shocked, he forgot to speak.

Mo Helian didn know that this guy was scared to speechlessness because of him. Mo Helian had short black hair, sharp eyebrows and red eyes. The moment he smiled, he looked so malicious, as if he was a demon ready to devour you whole. This made the boy get shivers down his spine.

In Mo Helians opinion, this little guy was too pitiful and his offer was tempting, however he still had his doubts, so he decided to voice them out.

”Why me though? ”

”Because your spiritual power is so strong and almost endless! I don know how you even survived in this world! The energy here is so scarce, there is almost none. Its like this…When I woke up, the whole world was dark and you were the only thing that was shining so bright, so I couldn help it… ”

The boy kept babbling and enthusiastically explained things to him, but Mo Helian only focused on the important parts. He couldn help but think that this little boy was too innocent and defenseless. He couldn even keep some secrets for himself.

From what he heard, this child was definitely not a human though.

Out of curiosity, he made up his mind and decided to play this little game.

Death was always going to be there in the end. For everyone, not only him.

This would be just like a game. And he could end it anytime he wanted.

So, he made the boy shut up immediately when he asked, ”Where do I sign? ”

”Huh? ”

”The contract. How is it done? ”

”Oh…you want to-you actually…? Did you just agree? ”

Mo Helian was amused when the little guy forgot to even form sentences. He could tell he was shocked and delighted at the same time.

”Yes. So, how do we bind? ”

”Just…give me your hand? ” The boy hesitated, focusing all his attention at him, as if he wanted to see if Mo Helian was joking around and playing with him.

Mo Helian let the boy stare at him all he wanted. He walked forward until he was near the boy, who was currently floating on top of his cloud. Then, he put his open palm forward, waiting for the child to seal the contract.

After confirming that Mo Helian was serious, the child approached him slowly and carefully, until his little chubby hand landed on Mo Helians rough palm.

”My name is Jingyi. I will be your companion from now on. What is your name? ”

”Mo Helian. ” Thats all he managed to say, as he could feel his energy being drained from him at an rapid speed.

”Im sorry, Mo Helian. This may hurt a little, but I will share the pain with you. Go to sleep now. Don worry, I will keep you safe. See you again in the other place. ”

Mo Helian had never been afraid of pain, he could endure it. However hearing the little one promising to take care of him, he felt strangely at ease.

He was not able to wonder much longer, as his vision started to blur and subsequently, he lost consciousness.
