”You are as boring as always, Calista. What will you be doing here in the hostel at the last day of school year. Its not like you will be studying. ” My friend Jane tries to convince me. I am not one who likes attending parties at all.

”Leave her Jane, lets go, alright. We are getting late. ” Norah interjects, picking up her tiny purse from our tiny bed. Jane and I stay together in this hostel, while Norah stays in the next room with Sarah. There is a party in town held by some business tycoon and everyone seems to make a fuss about it. I hate parties, the loud music and all those misbehaving men, I can even bear it thats why I don want to go.

”Hello b*****s, are you ready. ” Sarah enters the room quite psyched. She pauses a bit when she glances at me. She wriggles her nose in disgust, I know she has never liked me at all. I even wonder why we are friends. I guess its just because of Jane, lets just say I am almost the fourth wheel. I am the odd one out in this group. ”What is wrong with you, Calista? Why aren you dressed yet? ” she asks, not even looking at me now. Her eyes are fixated on our small mirror placed on the wall.

”She isn coming with us. ” Norah says to her. She smirks and continues retouching her already over applied makeup. She looks like a clown, I wonder how she will look during the day if she were to stay like this.

”Alright girls, lets go, our ride is already here. ” Sarah says after looking at her phone. Norah follows her behind as they leave the room.

”Give me five minutes. ” Jane shouts and Norah replies, she then sits beside me and gives me her look. A look that doesn let me say no to her.

”Please Jane, don give me that look. ” I plead with her with my hands folded.

”Please don let me go with them alone. Be there for me please Calista, I have always been by your side you know. Now that I am asking for this one little thing you are denying me? ” she asks, giving me the same look. ”Do you remember when I had to lie for you in class so that you could go home urgently? ” she adds. ”And do you remember when… ” I cut her off even before she continues. She is such a blackmailer, but I love her.

”Alright Jane, you win, I will come with you alright. ” I say smiling. She screams in happiness and throws herself on my embrace. She kisses my cheek jovially before letting go.

”Lets go now. ” I say getting off the bed. ”What? ” I ask after seeing the look she is giving me.

”Where do you think you are going dressed like that? I wouldn have you embarrass me. ” Jane says, in a friendly tone, that is how I take it. She rummages her closet and picks a tiny black dress and throws it towards me. I shoot my eyes wide open, but she gives me the look again. So, I just remove my boring clothes, as she always tells me. I slide it on, I keep on pulling it down since it barely reaches my mid-thighs.

”Wow, Calista, you look spectacular. Now take these shoes and lets go before they leave us. ” She throws her wedges towards me, but I duck, letting them fall behind me. I prefer my flat shoes, so I grab my Snickers instead. I grab a jacket as well, she offers to keep my phone for me since I don have those fancy purses they all have.
