Chapter 28: Mont Blanc

After a full day of classes, Absolute was having lunch with his subordinates.
This meal was an opportunity to catch up with those who weren’t in the same class.

“What? You beat up the hero during recreation?”

The topic of the meal this time was the confrontation between the hero and Absolute.
The fact that their leader defeated a hero made their hearts flutter.

“But that’s not all! He defeated him with his bare hands without a sword or magic! Right Oriana?”

“……Seriously, that’s inetense.”

Hearing the stories from those who actually saw the fight, the others felt envious of those who were there.
Chris especially, was depressed.

“I envy you …… I wish I could have been there to see it too.”

Mist cheered up Chris, whose shoulders were slumped and was feeling down.

“Well, do your best so you’ll be in the same class with us next year.
Chris, how are you doing in B class? Any problems?”

“Most of the high ranking nobles are in A class.
The Ark family faction that didn’t make it into A are all in B class, so we’re not losing any ground in terms of power.
I’m sorry, Absolute-sama, but Ulis got suspended for half-killing a guy she fought in a mock battle class.”

“……… I see.”

Ulis Coct.

She’s the daughter of Viscount Coct.

Viscount Coct is the head of the “Mushi”, one of the dark organizations of Rainana country.

The “Mushi” are active not only in Rainana but also in other countries.
They are also expanding their organization by eradicating the dark organizations of other countries and placing themselves in power.
In the country of Rainana, the Ark family holds the reins of power, so they are relatively quiet and take protection money from other noble families in their restaurants and brothels, and sell high-grade bread.

(She used to be a timid, weak-willed girl, but before I knew it, she had become such a rambunctious child.)

Absolute stares with a faraway look.

“I was wondering why Ulis-chan wasn’t here, and then I found out that she was suspended.
I mean, isn’t it too early to decide on the punishment? The hero’s punishment hasn’t even been decided yet!”

“The other party was a viscount, too.
The other party is afraid of recrimination, so I cried and pleaded with the teacher and Ulis not to make a big deal out of it.
So, I heard that she will be suspended because she overdid it in class.”

Chris explains Cruel-san’s question in an easy-to-understand manner.

Problems that occur at the school are often discussed between the houses if they are between nobles.
However, if the students have already settled the matter, the school will not make a big deal out of it and will end it with a light penalty.
This time, the other party was so scared of Ulis that they feared retaliation.

“Ulis-chan is too much of an outlaw to cry and apologize to the person she beat up.
But still, what was the cause? I’d like to believe that she’s not the kind of girl who would beat someone up for no reason…….”

“I heard that something was said in relation to Absolute-sama.
Because Ulis-chan worships Absolute-sama more than anyone else… I’m sure she couldn’t hold back.
So please don’t get too angry with her, Absolute-sama. ”

(She was mad for my sake…I’m glad, but I don’t know if Ulis will be punished for it.
A luxury I have trouble with, but a little too extreme for Ulis.)

“Well, it wasn’t a big deal this time, so let’s take it easy.”

“I mean, weren’t you just about to hit the guy who said that lame thing in class with some bad magic?”

(This guy is always trying to hit me where it hurts.)

So we got back into the swing of things, this time talking about what had happened in Magic Studies.

When the meal was over, Maria called out to Absolute.

“Master, Alicia of the Mirai family has requested to see you.
What will you do?”

Alicia Mirai?

(Probably she means to apologize for the hero’s outburst.
This time, it’s the saint’s fault, but the hero should take responsibility.
The hero’s backers are not happy about it.
I feel sorry for her, but let’s be serious when it comes to the hero.)

“No, I won’t meet with her.
Tell her I will formally protest to the Mirai family and I will hear their side of the story then.”

Absolute doesn’t meet with her right away, but tries to push her into a corner mentally by rushing her across the days.

“I will tell her that.
Ah, I have something to report…”

Absolute was told that Ur had been picked up by the hero this morning and had a quarrel with him.
He was so distraught by the details of the incident that he was unable to think of anything else to say.

“What in the world is this hero guy? Ur seems fine now, but I think she might be hurting inside.
Maybe I should take her to the café we went to before on the way home.”

(I heard that some men can be quite scary to women.
It wouldn’t be funny if she developed a phobia of men, even though she’s still a little girl.)

“I think that’ll be fine.
I will tell Alicia-sama as I told you before.”

Alicia looked as if she was having a bad dream.

Alicia couldn’t believe that the hero, who had a habit of running amok but who she believed was good at heart, would abuse Absolute in front of her classmates, beat up their homeroom teacher, and then surprise her.
Before she realized what was going on, she had fainted and fallen down.

“It wasn’t a dream, was it? I’ll have to apologize to Absolute for the incident with his maid this morning.
I need to make a good impression.”

Alicia found Absolute, who was probably having a meal, and requested a meeting with a nearby maid.

But the meeting didn’t take place.

Alicia was told

“My master said, ‘I will formally protest to the Mirai family, and I will hear your side then.'”

(Is he trying to rush me into a corner mentally? That’s just as I thought.
At this rate, there will probably be no naivety.
I wish he’d give me a little more leverage.
I don’t like this at all..)

Alicia, her hopes dashed, replies emphatically.

“Yes.
All right, just tell him I’ll see him later.
A formal apology will be made then.
I’m sorry about you, too.
We’ll teach the hero a lesson later.”

“No, please have a safe trip home.”

Alicia leaves after Maria sees her off.

After that, Alicia returns to the mansion to think about the future.

(It would be good if we could get away with consolation, but it’s not going to be enough.
The royal family is involved with the hero, so I’m sure they will intercede if the demands go too far.
I personally would be happy to break off the engagement, but as the Mirai family, we have to avoid that.)

Just as Alicia is pondering this, she hears a knock at the door of her room, followed by a servant informing her of the matter.

“Alicia-sama, the master is calling you.”

Alicia’s body stiffens for a moment, but she quickly regains her composure.

“Okay.
I’ll be right there.“

(I’m sure a reprimand won’t be enough since I’ve done so much.
Oh, why am I the only one who has to suffer this?)

Alicia’s steps felt heavy, but she went to the room where her father was waiting for her.
She heard the sound of the head of the family cursing and hitting something which echoed throughout the mansion.

After school, Absolute came to a café in the royal capital with his attendants, Ur and Maria.
This café was one they had found earlier when they had a grand outing with the king’s consolation money.
The interior is not very fancy, but he liked its chic design and relaxed atmosphere.
The only thing that bothers him is that the taciturn owner has a scary face.

(He’s still as brusque as ever, and his face is scary.
Well, I can’t say much about it.)

Absolute and his friends wait at their seats, and the scary-looking owner brings them their orders.

“Three herbal teas, strawberry tart, shortcake, and Mont Blanc.
That’s all you can order, right? Call me if you need anything else.”

Lined up on the table are a variety of mouthwatering sweets.

“Wow, they look so delicious! Thank you for bringing me back again, Absolute-sama! I’m so glad.”

Ur is very excited to be brought to a sweets store for the first time in a while.

“Don’t worry about it.
Eat up quickly.”

Absolute urges Ur to eat quickly and he himself puts his hand on the Mont Blanc he ordered.

(Mont Blanc is so delicious.
I didn’t like it much before I was reborn in this world.
I wonder if it’s influenced by the original Absolute)

Maria looked at Absolute, who was eating quietly.
Absolute also noticed the look from Maria.

“Maria, what are you staring at? I’m going to gouge out your eyeballs.”

“Oh no, I’m sorry.
It’s the first time I’ve seen the master eat so deliciously…I just kind of got a feel for it from the atmosphere.
Do you mind if we serve it at the mansion?”

“No need.
It’s okay to eat it occasionally, so it’s fine.
It’s delicious, though.
I’d like this to be my last meal.”

It was a word that came out unexpectedly, but it was certainly his true intention.
In the original story, it is not mentioned, but Absolute was fond of Mont Blanc here and often came to eat it with Ur.
Perhaps Absolute, before his reincarnation, is still somewhere in his mind.

“I want to eat with you every day!”

“If you want to die young, so be it.”

“Hmm! That’s not good.”

(….I wonder if Ur is going to be okay as we speak? I thought she’d be emotionally scarred because she’s so young.)

“Ur, I heard from Maria that you got tangled up with the hero this morning.
Is everything alright after that?”

“Hero?…..Ah, he met up with me this morning.
It was weird because he suddenly approached me in a familiar way.
But I responded in a strong manner just like the master said!”

(Is it weird…? It’s true that many protagonist characters have a buggy sense of distance, so it’s weird to look at them without colored glasses.
I understand how you feel.)

“I see.
I’ve said it many times, both of you should protect yourselves when I’m not around.
I’m giving you the power to do so.”

“”Yes! Master.””

After that, the three of them continued to enjoy their tea time before returning home.
